About Baby Hair®
Our brand, philosophy, and what makes us different.
What is Baby Hair®?
Baby Hair® is a hair and scalp care brand built around a simple belief: healthy-looking hair begins with intentional care from the scalp through the strands.
Founded in 2015, Baby Hair® creates hair and scalp care for different textures, generations, and life stages.
Our product family includes shampoos, conditioners, masks and treatments, oils, children’s hair care, men’s grooming products, and Raw 14A Grade Brazilian Human Hair extensions and wigs.
Our approach is rooted in scalp-first hair care—recognizing that caring for the scalp is an important part of caring for the hair.
Baby Hair® is a registered trademark and brand name. It is distinct from the generic term “baby hairs,” commonly used to describe the fine hairs around the hairline.
What does "scalp-first hair care" mean?
Scalp-first hair care means treating the scalp as an essential part of your hair-care routine instead of focusing only on the visible strands.
The scalp is where hair begins, which is why an intentional routine should consider both the condition of the scalp and the needs of the hair.
A scalp-first routine may include appropriate cleansing, conditioning, moisture, minimizing unnecessary buildup, protecting the hair from excessive manipulation, and selecting products according to individual needs.
Scalp-first does not mean everyone needs the same routine.
Hair texture, styling practices, protective styles, activity level, product use, age, environment, and individual scalp characteristics can all influence what works best for you.
Are Baby Hair® products made for all hair textures?
Baby Hair® was created with texture diversity in mind.
Our products can be incorporated into routines for straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair.
However, hair texture is only one factor to consider when selecting products.
We encourage customers to also consider:
- scalp needs;
- strand thickness;
- density;
- porosity;
- moisture needs;
- chemical processing;
- styling habits; and
- the current condition of the hair.
Two people with similar curl patterns can have very different hair-care needs.
What does "Get Back the Hair You Were Born With™" mean?
“Get Back the Hair You Were Born With™” expresses the Baby Hair® philosophy of helping people care for their hair and scalp through intentional and consistent hair-care practices.
It does not mean that a cosmetic product can literally return everyone’s hair to a previous state or guarantee a specific amount or rate of hair growth.
Genetics, age, health, hormones, medications, nutrition, styling practices, environmental factors, and other individual circumstances can all influence hair.
Our goal is to help you care for the hair you have while supporting healthier hair-care habits from the scalp through the strands.
Hair Care & Scalp Care
Products, routines, ingredients, and hair-care guidance for every texture and life stage.
How often should I shampoo my hair?
There is no single shampoo schedule that works for everyone.
How frequently you cleanse depends on factors such as:
- your scalp;
- hair characteristics;
- activity level;
- styling routine;
- protective styles;
- oil production; and
- product buildup.
Someone who exercises frequently or uses several styling products may need to cleanse more often than someone with a different routine.
The goal is to cleanse often enough to remove excess oil, sweat, debris, and buildup without unnecessarily stripping the hair and scalp.
Pay attention to how your scalp and hair respond rather than following a rigid schedule based only on hair texture.
Why doesn’t my shampoo always produce a lot of lather?
Lather is not the same thing as cleansing ability.
The amount of foam you see can be affected by:
- the shampoo formulation;
- the amount of oil or product buildup present;
- your water; and
- how much product you use.
If there is significant buildup on the hair or scalp, the first cleanse may produce less lather because the cleanser is interacting with those oils and products.
A second cleanse may produce more.
Focus on thoroughly cleansing and rinsing the hair and scalp rather than using foam alone to determine whether your shampoo is working.
Does shampoo have to contain sulfates to clean my hair?
No.
Sulfates are one type of cleansing ingredient, but shampoos can use many different cleansing systems.
What matters most is whether the formulation appropriately removes oil, sweat, debris, and product buildup for your particular hair and scalp needs.
Different cleansing systems can feel different on the hair, which is why choosing a shampoo should be based on your overall routine rather than whether one specific type of ingredient is present or absent.
Does the shampoo I use really make a difference?
Yes.
Shampoo formulations can differ considerably.
Shampoos may vary in:
- cleansing strength;
- conditioning ingredients;
- botanical ingredients;
- fragrance; and
- how they interact with different hair and scalp needs.
The best shampoo is not necessarily the one that creates the most foam or costs the most.
It is one that effectively cleanses your hair and scalp while fitting into the rest of your routine.
Why is deep conditioning important?
Deep conditioning can provide additional conditioning and help improve the softness, manageability, feel, and appearance of the hair.
It can be particularly useful when hair feels dry or when it is:
- highly textured;
- chemically processed;
- frequently heat styled; or
- exposed to environmental stressors.
Deep conditioning does not replace regular cleansing or solve every hair concern, but it can be a valuable part of an intentional hair-care routine.
How often should I deep condition my hair?
There is no required schedule that works for everyone.
Some people benefit from periodic deep conditioning, while others may use a deep conditioner more or less frequently depending on:
- dryness;
- texture;
- styling habits;
- chemical processing; and
- the current condition of the hair.
Follow the directions for the specific product and pay attention to how your hair responds rather than automatically deep conditioning on a fixed schedule.
Can I condition my hair too much?
Yes.
More conditioning is not automatically better.
Depending on your hair and the products you’re using, excessive product application can leave hair feeling:
- coated;
- limp;
- weighed down; or
- difficult to style.
If that happens, reassess how much product you’re using, how frequently you’re using it, and whether your cleansing routine is adequately removing buildup.
Adjust your routine according to how your hair responds.
How do I determine my hair type?
Curl pattern can be helpful, but it is only one characteristic of your hair.
In addition to whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, or coily, consider:
- strand thickness;
- hair density;
- porosity;
- scalp characteristics;
- moisture needs;
- chemical processing;
- heat styling;
- protective styling; and
- how your hair responds to products.
Two people who appear to have the same curl pattern may need completely different routines.
Can hot water damage or dry out my hair?
Very hot water may contribute to dryness or make an already-dry scalp or hair feel less comfortable.
You do not need extremely hot water to effectively cleanse your hair.
Warm or lukewarm water is generally sufficient.
Choose a temperature that allows you to thoroughly cleanse and rinse while remaining comfortable for your scalp.
Can hard water affect my hair?
Yes.
Hard water contains higher concentrations of dissolved minerals.
Depending on your water, products, and routine, mineral buildup can affect how the hair feels and how well certain products perform.
If you suspect mineral or product buildup, periodic appropriate cleansing or clarifying may help.
Your routine should still take the overall condition and needs of your hair into consideration.
What can I do for dry hair and a dry scalp?
First, remember that dry hair and a dry scalp are not necessarily the same problem.
Dry-feeling strands may benefit from adjustments to:
- cleansing frequency;
- conditioning;
- deep conditioning;
- heat exposure;
- product use; and
- styling practices.
A dry or uncomfortable scalp may require a different approach.
Persistent itching, flaking, redness, irritation, sores, or other significant scalp changes can have many causes.
If symptoms are persistent, severe, or concerning, consider consulting an appropriate healthcare professional rather than continually adding oils or products to the scalp.
Can I use Baby Hair® products while wearing braids, wigs, weaves, or other protective styles?
Yes, depending on the individual product and style.
Protective styling does not eliminate the need for scalp and hair care.
Keeping the accessible scalp appropriately cleansed, minimizing excessive buildup, and avoiding unnecessary tension remain important while wearing protective styles.
Follow the directions for each Baby Hair® product and consider the requirements of your particular installation or style.
Choosing Your Baby Hair® Products
Find the right collection and build your routine.
Which Baby Hair® collection is right for me?
Start with what your hair and scalp need right now.
Hydrating Collection
A great starting point when moisture, softness, conditioning, and manageability are priorities.
Rosemary Botanical Collection
Designed for customers who want a botanical, scalp-conscious routine and want to give additional attention to the scalp as part of their regular hair-care regimen.
Coconut Treasures Collection
Ideal when you’re looking for nourishing moisture, softness, conditioning, and a more manageable feel.
Kids Collection
Created with children’s hair-care routines in mind, with products designed to cleanse, condition, moisturize, and help make detangling easier.
Baby Hair® also offers masks, oils, treatments, men’s grooming products, and specialty products that can be incorporated into your routine according to your needs.
Do I have to use products from only one Baby Hair® collection?
No.
Your scalp and strands may have different needs, and those needs can change depending on:
- the season;
- hairstyle;
- chemical services;
- protective styles;
- activity level;
- environment; and
- other factors.
You can mix products from different Baby Hair® collections to build a routine that works for you.
How do I build the right Baby Hair® routine?
Start by asking three questions.
1. What does my scalp need?
Does it tend to feel:
- comfortable;
- oily;
- dry; or
- prone to buildup?
2. What do my strands need?
Are your biggest priorities:
- moisture;
- softness;
- cleansing;
- conditioning;
- detangling; or
- manageability?
3. How do I wear my hair?
Natural styles, heat styling, chemical services, wigs, braids, weaves, extensions, and other protective styles can influence your routine.
Choose products according to those needs and adjust your routine when your hair changes.
Can I use a hair mask and regular conditioner?
Yes.
A regular conditioner and a treatment mask can serve different roles within a routine.
Your regular conditioner may be used as directed after cleansing, while a deeper conditioning mask can be incorporated periodically when your hair needs additional conditioning.
Follow the directions for each individual product and adjust frequency according to how your hair responds.
Hair Growth, Shedding & Life Stages
Answers about hair growth, shedding, menopause, medications and more.
How can I get my hair to grow?
Hair growth is influenced by many factors, including:
- genetics;
- age;
- nutrition;
- hormones;
- overall health;
- medications;
- scalp conditions; and
- hair-care practices.
Baby Hair® cosmetic products are designed to support the care and condition of the hair and scalp, but no cosmetic hair-care routine can guarantee a particular rate or amount of hair growth.
Consistent scalp and hair care, appropriate cleansing, conditioning, and practices that minimize unnecessary breakage can help you better care for the hair you have.
Sudden, unexplained, patchy, or persistent hair loss should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.
Is shedding normal?
Some hair shedding is part of the normal hair cycle.
The amount of hair you notice can vary based on factors including:
- wash frequency;
- detangling;
- styling practices;
- life stage;
- health;
- medications; and
- how long shed hairs remain trapped within a hairstyle before being released.
A noticeable or sudden change in shedding, visible thinning, bald patches, scalp symptoms, or persistent excessive shedding should be discussed with an appropriate healthcare professional.
I’m going through menopause. What can I do for changes in my hair and scalp?
Changes associated with menopause can coincide with changes in the way hair and the scalp feel or behave.
A gentler, moisture-conscious routine may help improve softness, manageability, and comfort.
However, significant thinning, increased shedding, scalp symptoms, or sudden changes can have multiple causes.
Consider discussing those changes with an appropriate healthcare professional rather than relying exclusively on cosmetic hair-care products.
Can medications affect my hair?
Yes.
Some medications and changes in health can affect:
- hair growth;
- shedding;
- texture; or
- the scalp.
Do not stop or change a prescribed medication because of a hair concern without speaking with the healthcare professional responsible for your care.
If you notice a significant hair or scalp change after starting or changing a medication, discuss it with an appropriate healthcare professional.
I’m transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair. What should I know?
During a transition, you’re caring for hair with different characteristics at the same time: chemically processed hair and new growth.
The area where the two textures meet may require additional care.
Gentle detangling, adequate conditioning, minimizing unnecessary manipulation and excessive heat, and choosing styles that do not place unnecessary tension on the hair can help make the transition more manageable.
Patience matters.
Your routine may need to change as the amount of natural hair increases.
Raw Hair Extensions & Wigs
Raw 14A Grade Brazilian Human Hair, installation, care, and maintenance.
What type of hair extensions and wigs does Baby Hair® offer?
Baby Hair® offers Raw 14A Grade Brazilian Human Hair extensions and wigs.
Because raw human hair is a natural product, slight variations in:
- natural color;
- texture;
- wave or curl pattern;
- density; and
- overall appearance
may occur.
Those variations are part of the character of raw human hair and do not necessarily indicate a product defect.
Please review the individual product listing for currently available lengths, textures, and options.
What does Raw 14A Grade Brazilian Human Hair mean?
Baby Hair® identifies its extensions and wigs as Raw 14A Grade Brazilian Human Hair based on the specifications of the hair we source and sell.
“Raw” refers to the natural human hair used in our extension and wig products.
“Brazilian” identifies the hair category offered by Baby Hair®.
“14A Grade” identifies the quality grade under which the hair is sold.
Because raw human hair is not expected to look artificially identical from piece to piece, natural variations may occur.
How many bundles do I need for a full install?
The number of bundles needed depends on your:
- desired fullness;
- hair length;
- head size;
- installation method; and
- whether you’re using a closure or frontal.
As a general guide:
Shorter lengths: approximately 2–3 bundles
Medium lengths: approximately 3 bundles
Longer lengths: approximately 3–4 bundles
Extra-long or very full looks: 4 or more bundles may be preferred
Longer bundles have their weight distributed across longer strands, so additional bundles may be needed to create a fuller appearance from root to ends.
Can Baby Hair® Raw 14A Brazilian Hair be colored or bleached?
Yes.
Raw human hair can generally be professionally colored, darkened, lifted, or otherwise processed.
However, chemical processing can alter the hair’s:
- texture;
- curl or wave pattern;
- strength;
- softness;
- appearance; and
- longevity.
We strongly recommend having coloring, bleaching, lifting, or other chemical services performed by an experienced licensed professional familiar with raw human hair extensions and wigs.
Once hair has been colored, bleached, chemically processed, cut, installed, washed, or otherwise altered, it may no longer qualify for an exchange under our Store Policy.
How long can Baby Hair® extensions and wigs last?
There is no single guaranteed lifespan for human hair extensions or wigs.
Longevity depends heavily on how the hair is:
- installed;
- worn;
- maintained;
- cleansed;
- styled;
- chemically processed; and
- stored.
Because Baby Hair® uses Raw 14A Grade Brazilian Human Hair, the hair can be reused when appropriately maintained.
Excessive heat, frequent chemical processing, rough detangling, improper cleansing, product buildup, and inadequate protection during sleep or storage can shorten its usable life.
Why do hair extensions shed?
Some shedding can occur with human hair extensions, particularly during:
- washing;
- brushing;
- styling; and
- normal wear.
Aggressive brushing, pulling, cutting or damaging the weft, improper installation, excessive heat, chemical processing, or inadequate maintenance may increase shedding.
Treat extensions gently and follow appropriate installation and maintenance practices.
Why do hair extensions tangle?
Tangling can occur because of:
- dryness;
- friction;
- product buildup;
- improper maintenance;
- excessive heat;
- sleeping without protecting the hair;
- chemical processing; or
- environmental exposure.
Gently detangle starting at the ends and work upward.
Keeping the hair appropriately cleansed and conditioned and protecting it during sleep can help reduce unnecessary tangling.
How is extension length measured?
Hair extension length is generally measured from the top of the weft to the ends while the hair is extended to its full length.
Curly and wavy textures may appear shorter in their natural state because of the curl or wave pattern.
How should I care for my Baby Hair® extensions and wigs?
Treat raw human hair with care.
Use appropriate cleansing and conditioning products.
Detangle gently from the ends upward.
Minimize unnecessary heat and avoid excessive product buildup.
Installed extensions should be protected during sleep to help reduce friction and tangling.
Wigs should be properly stored when they are not being worn.
If the hair has been professionally colored or chemically processed, also follow the maintenance recommendations provided by the professional who performed the service.
Should I dry-clean my extensions or wig?
No.
Human hair extensions and wigs should generally be cleaned using hair-care methods appropriate for human hair rather than conventional garment dry cleaning.
For specialty wigs or customized units, follow the care instructions provided with the unit or consult an experienced wig professional.
What textures of hair extensions does Baby Hair® offer?
Available textures may vary by collection and inventory.
Please refer to the individual product page for currently available:
- textures;
- lengths;
- densities; and
- other options.
Kids, Men’s & Specialty Hair Care
Answers for families, fathers and unique hair care needs.
Are Baby Hair® products made for children?
Baby Hair® offers products specifically created with children’s hair-care routines in mind.
Our Kids collection is designed to help cleanse, condition, moisturize, and make detangling easier as part of an age-appropriate hair-care routine.
Always follow the directions on the individual product and supervise children as appropriate for their age.
Can adults use Baby Hair® Kids products?
Yes.
Baby Hair® Kids products are created with children’s routines in mind, but adults may also choose to use them based on their individual preferences and hair-care needs.
Product selection should always be based on how the hair and scalp respond rather than age alone.
Does Baby Hair® make products for men?
Yes.
Baby Hair® includes men’s grooming and hair-care offerings, including the Beards & Bourbon™ collection.
Product availability may vary, so please refer to the current product listings for available men’s grooming and hair-care products.
Can Baby Hair® products be used on beards?
Products specifically identified for beard or men’s grooming use should be used according to their labeling and directions.
Because facial skin and scalp skin can have different sensitivities, avoid assuming every hair product is automatically appropriate for beard use unless the product directions support that use.
Can Baby Hair® products be used on chemically treated or color-treated hair?
Many Baby Hair® products can be incorporated into routines for chemically treated or color-treated hair, depending on the individual product and the needs of the hair.
Chemically treated hair may require additional attention to conditioning, moisture, heat exposure, and handling.
Always review the individual product directions and consider the recommendations of the professional who performed your chemical or color service.
